Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a stable, flat surface near a power outlet.

  1. Remove all protective tapes and materials from the printer exterior and interior.
  2. Install Ink Cartridges: Open cover, insert black (PG-245) and color (CL-246) cartridges into their respective slots until they click.
  3. Load Paper: Adjust paper guides in the rear tray, load plain paper print-side down.
  4. Connect Power: Plug the power adapter into the printer and then into a wall outlet.
  5. Connect to Computer: Use the provided USB cable to connect the printer to your computer.

WARNING! Do not touch the print head or ink cartridge nozzles. Ensure the printer is on a stable surface to prevent tipping.

First-Time Setup

Power on the printer; the Power light will illuminate. Follow on-screen prompts on your computer.

  1. Install Software: Insert the setup CD or download drivers from the Canon website. Follow the installation wizard.

Printing & Copying

  1. Printing from Computer: Select 'Print' in your application, choose 'Canon MG2500 series' as the printer, adjust settings, and click Print.
  2. Copying:
    • Place document face down on the scanner glass and align with the corner mark.
    • Press the COLOR COPY or BLACK COPY button on the control panel.
    • For multiple copies, press the button repeatedly (1-9 times) before starting.
  3. Photo Printing: Use photo paper in the rear tray. Select 'Photo Paper' as media type in print settings for best quality.
  4. Manual Duplex: In print driver, select 'Manual Duplex' option. The printer will prompt you to reinsert the paper to print on the second side.

WARNING! Do not open the cover or remove paper during printing. Use recommended paper types to avoid jams.

Scanning

Scan to computer using Canon IJ Scan Utility or other scanning software.

  1. Place document or photo face down on the scanner glass.
  2. Open the scanning software on your computer.
  3. Select scan type (Color Document, Black & White Document, Photo).
  4. Preview the image, adjust cropping or settings if needed, then click Scan.
  5. Save the scanned file to your desired location.

Note: For scanning text documents to editable text, use OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Unplug the printer before performing any maintenance.

CAUTION! Do not refill cartridges; use only genuine Canon ink. Keep ink cartridges out of reach of children.
