Unboxing and Initial Setup
Unpack the printer and inspect all contents. Place on a stable, flat surface near a power outlet.
- Remove all tape and protective materials from the printer exterior and interior.
- Open the scanner unit and remove any protective materials inside.
- Ensure the power cord, setup CD, and ink cartridges are included.
- Keep the packaging for future storage or transport.
WARNING! Do not touch the print head or ink cartridge contacts. Handle with care to avoid damage.
Installing Ink Cartridges
Install the ink cartridges before first use.
- Turn on the printer by pressing the Power button.
- Open the front cover; the print head carrier moves to the center.
- Remove new ink cartridges from packaging; gently remove protective tape.
- Insert Black cartridge (PG-245) into left slot, Color cartridge (CL-246) into right slot until they click.
- Close the front cover; printer will begin initial ink charging (takes a few minutes).
CAUTION! Do not turn off printer during ink charging. Use only genuine Canon ink cartridges.
Loading Paper
Load paper into the rear paper feed tray.
- Pull out the paper support and extend the paper output tray.
- Adjust the paper guide to match paper width.
- Fan a stack of plain paper (up to 100 sheets) and insert print side up.
- Adjust the paper guide snugly against paper edges.
- Ensure paper is below the maximum fill mark.
Tip: Use standard A4 or Letter-sized paper for best results. Avoid wrinkled or curled paper.
Connecting to Power and Computer
Connect the printer to power and your computer.
- Plug the power cord into the printer and a wall outlet.
- Press the Power button to turn on the printer.
- For USB connection: Connect the USB cable (not included) to printer and computer.
- For wireless setup: Proceed to Wireless Setup section.
Note: Ensure the printer is placed within range of your computer or wireless router.
Installing Printer Software
Install the necessary drivers and software from the setup CD or Canon website.
- Insert the setup CD into your computer or download software from Canon support site.
- Run the setup file and follow on-screen instructions.
- Select your connection type (USB or Wireless) when prompted.
- Complete installation and restart computer if required.
- Print a test page to verify installation.
Tip: For latest drivers, visit Canon website and enter model "MG2522".
Wireless Setup
Connect the printer to your wireless network.
- Ensure your wireless router is on and you know the network name (SSID) and password.
- On the printer, press and hold the Wi-Fi button until the alarm lamp flashes once.
- Within 2 minutes, press the Color Copy button; alarm lamp flashes blue.
- On your computer, run the wireless setup from installed software or use WPS (if supported).
- Follow prompts to select network and enter password.
- When connection is established, alarm lamp stops flashing.
Note: For WPS setup, press router's WPS button within 2 minutes after step 2.
Basic Printing Operations
Print documents and photos from your computer.
- Ensure printer is on and paper is loaded.
- Open the document or image you want to print.
- Select File > Print or press Ctrl+P.
- Choose "Canon MG2522" as printer.
- Adjust settings (paper size, quality, color) as needed.
- Click Print; monitor printer status.
WARNING! Do not open covers or remove paper during printing.
Scanning and Copying
Use the scanner unit for scanning and copying.
Copying:
- Place document face down on scanner glass.
- Press Black Copy for monochrome or Color Copy for color copies.
- To adjust number of copies, press Copy button repeatedly (1-9).
- Copying starts automatically.
Scanning:
- Install Canon software (MP Driver, Scan Utility).
- Place document on scanner glass.
- Open scanning software on computer.
- Select scan settings and click Scan.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Keep your printer clean for optimal performance.
- Unplug printer before cleaning.
- Wipe exterior with soft, dry cloth.
- Clean scanner glass with lint-free cloth and glass cleaner (spray on cloth, not directly).
- Run nozzle check and print head alignment via printer software if print quality declines.
- Replace ink cartridges when low or empty.
CAUTION! Do not use alcohol or abrasive cleaners. Avoid touching ink nozzles.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
