Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a stable, level surface near a power outlet.

  1. Remove all packaging materials and tapes from printer.
  2. Install ink tanks: Open ink tank cover, insert each color tank (Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow) into correct slot, press until click.
  3. Fill ink tanks: Use provided ink bottles to fill each tank to MAX line.
  4. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in rear tray or cassette, insert paper print-side down.
  5. Connect power cord to printer and wall outlet.

WARNING! Handle ink carefully to avoid spills. Keep printer horizontal during setup.

First-Time Setup

Power on printer; follow on-screen prompts or use Canon software.

  1. Install printhead: Printer will automatically install printhead when powered on.
  2. Perform initial ink charging: Printer will run ink charging process (may take several minutes).
  3. Install software: Insert provided CD or download from Canon website, follow instructions to install drivers and utilities.
