Unpacking and Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface near power outlet.

  1. Remove all packaging materials and tapes from printer exterior and interior.
  2. Install ink tanks: Open front cover, remove tank caps, insert tanks until click, close cover.
  3. Load paper: Adjust paper guide in input tray, load up to 100 sheets of plain paper.
  4. Connect power cord to printer and wall outlet.
  5. Turn on printer using power button.

WARNING! Do not tilt printer after ink tanks are installed to prevent ink leakage. Keep printer horizontal.

Initial Configuration

Power on printer; follow on-screen prompts on OLED display.

  1. Language selection: Use arrow buttons to select language, press OK.
  2. Ink initialization: Printer will prime ink system (takes several minutes).
  3. Install software: Insert included CD or download from Canon website, follow installer instructions.
  4. Connect to network: Use WPS button or manual setup via control panel for Wi-Fi.

Note: Use only Canon GI-21 (Black), GI-22 (Cyan), GI-23 (Magenta), GI-24 (Yellow) ink bottles. Do not mix colors.

Care & Maintenance

Unplug before cleaning exterior. Use soft, dry cloth; do not use alcohol or solvents.

Clean scanner glass with soft cloth and glass cleaner if needed. Keep ink tank caps closed when not refilling.

CAUTION! Do not touch print head nozzles. Run nozzle check and cleaning cycles via software if print quality declines.
