Unpacking and Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface near power outlet.

  1. Remove all packaging materials and tapes from printer.
  2. Install ink tanks: Open front cover, remove tank caps, fill with provided ink bottles.
  3. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in rear tray, load up to 100 sheets.
  4. Connect power cord to printer and AC outlet.

WARNING! Handle ink bottles carefully to avoid spills. Keep printer horizontal during setup.

Initial Installation

Power on printer; follow on-screen prompts on OLED display.

  1. Install printhead: Printer will prompt; open cover and insert printhead until it clicks.
  2. Align printhead: Use display menu to start alignment process.
  3. Install software: Download Canon PRINT app or insert setup CD; follow on-screen instructions.
  4. Connect to network: Use Wi-Fi button or menu to select network and enter password.

CAUTION! Do not unplug printer during initialization. Ensure ink tanks are securely installed.

  2. Scan: Place document on flatbed or ADF, use Canon PRINT app or computer software.
  3. Copy: Place original, press COPY button on printer or app, select copies.
  4. Fax: Connect phone line to LINE port, use ADF for multi-page faxing.
  5. Photo Printing: Use compatible photo paper, select photo print mode.

WARNING! Do not touch printhead or ink tanks during operation. Use recommended paper.

Ink Tank System

Refillable tanks: Fill when ink level is low. Indicators: OLED display shows ink levels.

  1. Open front cover and ink tank latch.
  2. Remove cap from ink bottle and tank.
  3. Insert bottle into tank; ink flows automatically until full.
  4. Replace caps and close latch.

CAUTION! Use only Canon GI series ink. Wipe spills immediately with dry cloth.

Maintenance

Clean printhead if print quality declines. Run nozzle check and cleaning via display menu.

Daily: Keep printer clean, use dust cover if unused. Monthly: Run printhead alignment. As needed: Clean scanner glass with soft, lint-free cloth.

CAUTION! Unplug before cleaning. Do not use alcohol or solvents on printer.
