Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a stable, flat surface near a power outlet.

  1. Remove all packaging tape and protective materials from inside and outside the printer.
  2. Install ink cartridges: Open cover, insert PG-245 Black and CL-246 Color cartridges into their respective slots, close cover.
  3. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in rear tray, load plain paper print-side down.
  4. Connect power cord to printer and plug into AC outlet.
  5. Connect to computer via USB cable (included).

WARNING! Do not touch print head or ink cartridge contacts. Keep printer level during operation.

First-Time Setup

Power on the printer; the power light will illuminate. Follow on-screen prompts from your computer.

  1. Install software: Insert the setup CD or download drivers from Canon website. Follow installation wizard.
  2. Align print head: Printer will automatically print an alignment sheet after ink installation. Follow on-screen instructions to complete.
  3. Perform nozzle check: Print a test page via printer properties to ensure print quality.
  4. Configure basic settings: Set paper size, type, and print quality preferences in printer driver.

CAUTION! Do not unplug or turn off printer during initial setup or print head alignment.

  1. Connect the USB cable (Type-B to Type-A) from the printer to your computer.
  2. Operating system should detect new hardware. Install drivers if prompted.
  3. For network/wireless models (if applicable): Use WPS button or setup software to connect to your Wi-Fi network.
  4. Select printer in your application's print dialog.

Tip: Use the original Canon USB cable for reliable connection. Ensure drivers are up to date.

Printing & Scanning

Supports documents, photos, envelopes.

  1. Printing: Select 'Print' in your application. Choose 'Canon MG2500 series' as printer. Adjust settings (quality, paper type) and click Print.
  2. Copying: Place document face down on scanner glass. Press COLOR COPY or BLACK COPY button. Press repeatedly to set copy quantity (1-9).
  3. Scanning: Install Canon My Image Garden or use Windows Fax and Scan / Image Capture (Mac). Place item on glass, start scanning software, select source and resolution, then scan.
  4. Photo Printing: Use Photo Paper Plus Glossy II or similar. Set media type to 'Photo Paper' and quality to 'High' in printer driver.

WARNING! Do not open cover during printing or copying. Use recommended paper types.

Maintenance

Ink Cartridge Replacement: When ink level is low or print quality declines. Open cover, press cartridge lock lever, remove old cartridge, unpack new one, insert firmly until click, close cover. Printer will initialize.

Print Head Cleaning: If prints have streaks or missing colors. Access via printer properties > Maintenance tab > Head Cleaning. Run once and print nozzle check pattern.

Print Head Alignment: If printed lines are misaligned. Access via Maintenance tab > Print Head Alignment. Follow on-screen instructions.

Care & Cleaning

Unplug power cord before cleaning. Exterior: Use soft, dry cloth. Scanner glass: Use lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water, then dry. Do not use alcohol, benzene, or abrasive cleaners.

CAUTION! Never spray liquids directly onto printer. Avoid getting moisture inside openings. Keep printer free of dust and paper debris.
