Unpacking and Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface near power outlet.

Remove all tape and protective materials from printer exterior and interior.
Connect power cord to printer and wall outlet.
Press POWER button to turn on printer.
Install ink cartridges (see Section 3).
Load paper into rear paper tray.
Install software from CD-ROM or download from Canon website.

WARNING! Do not touch print head or ink cartridge contacts. Keep printer horizontal during setup.

Installing Ink Cartridges

Ensure printer is on and POWER indicator is lit.

Open printer cover; print head carrier moves to center.
Remove new cartridge from packaging; gently remove protective tape.
Insert black cartridge (PG-745) into left slot, color cartridge (CL-746) into right slot until click.
Close printer cover.
Printer will initialize; wait until POWER indicator stops flashing.

CAUTION! Do not turn off printer during initialization. Use only genuine Canon cartridges.

Controls and Indicators

Troubleshooting
