Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface near power outlet and computer.

  1. Remove all tape and packaging materials from inside and outside the printer.
  2. Install ink cartridges: Open front cover, wait for print head to move to center, insert cartridges firmly into their respective slots.
  3. Load paper: Adjust paper guides on rear tray for A4 or Letter size paper.
  4. Connect power cord to printer and wall outlet.
  5. Connect USB cable to printer and computer (software installation required).

WARNING! Do not touch print head or ink cartridge contacts. Ensure printer is powered off during initial setup steps.

First-Time Use

Power on printer; install software from included CD or download from Canon website.

  1. Run setup program: Follow on-screen instructions to install printer drivers and software (MP Driver, MP Navigator EX, Easy-PhotoPrint EX).
  2. Align print head: After installation, printer will prompt for automatic print head alignment. Load plain paper and follow prompts.
  3. Perform nozzle check: Print test pattern via Maintenance tab in printer properties to ensure all nozzles are firing correctly.

Scanning & Copying

Scanning:

  1. Place document or photo face down on scanner glass, aligned to corner marks.
  2. Launch MP Navigator EX or other scanning software.
  3. Select scan type (Document/Photo), resolution, and file format.
  4. Click Scan. Preview image, adjust cropping if needed, then save.

Copying:

  1. Place original on scanner glass.
  2. Use control panel: Press Color or Black copy button.
  3. To adjust settings (copies, density, size), press and hold copy button until LCD changes, then use Maintenance button to navigate.
  4. Press Color or Black copy button again to start copying.

Note: For multiple copies, use software or set number via control panel method.

Ink System & Maintenance

Ink Cartridge Replacement:

  1. Printer alerts when ink is low. Power on printer, open front cover.
  2. Wait for print head to move to center position.
  3. Press cartridge lock lever down, remove empty cartridge.
  4. Remove protective tape from new cartridge, insert firmly until click.
  5. Close front cover. Printer may perform automatic cleaning.

Routine Maintenance:

WARNING! Use only genuine Canon PGI-225/CLI-226 cartridges. Do not refill or use incompatible cartridges.

Software & Connectivity

Included Software:

Connectivity: USB 2.0 Hi-Speed connection to computer. Ensure cable is securely connected at both ends. Install driver before connecting for first time on Windows 7 or later.
