Unboxing and Initial Setup

Unpack and inspect all contents. Place printer on a stable, flat surface near a power outlet and within range of your Wi-Fi router.

  1. Remove all tape and packaging materials from inside and outside the printer.
  2. Open the front cover and install the provided setup ink cartridges (PG-47, CL-57). Press each until it clicks.
  3. Load paper into the rear paper tray. Adjust the paper guides.
  4. Connect the power cord to the printer and plug it into a wall outlet. Press the POWER button.
  5. The printer will initialize. Wait for the Alarm lamp to stop flashing.

WARNING! Do not touch the print head or ink cartridge contacts. Handle ink cartridges carefully to avoid stains.

Wireless Network Connection

Connect your PIXMA TR4520 to your Wi-Fi network. You can use the WPS method or manual setup.

  1. WPS Method (Recommended if supported by your router): Press and hold the Wi-Fi button on the printer until the ON lamp flashes. Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on your wireless router. Wait for the ON lamp to stop flashing and stay lit.
  2. Manual Setup via Control Panel: Press the Wi-Fi button. Use the arrow buttons to select "Wireless LAN setup" on the LCD. Follow prompts to select your network name (SSID) and enter the password using the on-screen keyboard.
  3. Confirm connection: The Wi-Fi lamp should be lit steadily.

CAUTION! Ensure your router is powered on and broadcasting. Have your network name and password ready.

Software and Driver Installation

Install the Canon software on your computer to enable full functionality.

Printer Control Panel Overview

Access functions via the buttons and LCD screen.

Buttons: POWER, Wi-Fi, Stop/Reset, Color Copy, Black Copy, Scan.

LCD Screen & Navigation: Displays status, menus, and settings. Use the arrow buttons to navigate and the OK button to select.

Menus: Device settings (LAN settings, print head alignment, nozzle check), Copy settings (number of copies, contrast), Scan settings (scan destination, file format). Wireless status is shown in the LAN settings menu.

Connecting Mobile Devices

Print directly from smartphones and tablets.

  1. iOS (AirPrint): Ensure your iOS device is on the same Wi-Fi network as the printer. Open a document or photo, tap Share > Print, select "Canon TR4500 series".
  2. Android (Canon PRINT app): Download "Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY" from Google Play Store. Open the app, follow setup to find and register your printer.
  3. Google Cloud Print: Through the Canon software on your computer, register the printer with Google Cloud Print for remote printing.

Tip: For best results with the Canon PRINT app, ensure the printer's Wi-Fi lamp is lit steadily.

Printing from Various Sources

Once setup is complete, you can print from multiple sources.

  1. From Computer: Select 'Print' in any application. Choose 'Canon TR4500 series' as the printer.
  2. From Web Browser (Cloud Print): Use the Google Cloud Print interface to send print jobs.
  3. Copy Function: Place document in ADF or on scanner glass. Press Color Copy or Black Copy button. Use arrows to adjust number of copies.
  4. Scan Function: Place document. Press Scan button. Use computer software or the Canon PRINT app to initiate and receive the scan.

WARNING! Do not open covers or remove paper during printing. Use recommended paper types.

Maintenance and Ink Replacement

Replace ink cartridges when low or empty.

  1. Open the front cover. The print head carrier moves to the replacement position.
  2. Press the cartridge lock lever down to release the empty cartridge. Remove it.
  3. Unpack the new cartridge and remove the orange protective tape.
  4. Insert the new cartridge into its color-coded slot and press up until it clicks.
  5. Close the front cover. The printer will perform an initial ink charging. This may take a few minutes.
  6. Run a nozzle check pattern from the maintenance tab of the printer software to ensure print quality.

CAUTION! Use only Canon Genuine PG-47 and CL-57 ink cartridges. Do not refill.
