Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface near power outlet.

  1. Install ink cartridges: Open front cover, remove protective tape from cartridges, insert into correct slots (black, cyan, magenta, yellow).
  2. Load paper: Adjust rear paper guide, load up to 100 sheets of plain paper.
  3. Connect power: Plug power cord into printer and wall outlet.
  4. Turn on printer: Press power button; follow on-screen prompts.
  5. Install software: Insert CD or download from Canon website; follow installation wizard for drivers and utilities.

WARNING! Do not touch print head or ink cartridge contacts. Keep printer away from heat and humidity.

First-Time Configuration

  3. Print head alignment: After replacement, print alignment sheet via Maintenance menu.
  4. Nozzle check: Print test pattern to check for clogs; run cleaning if needed.
  5. Deep cleaning: Use only if print quality is poor; consumes ink.

CAUTION! Use only genuine Canon cartridges; others may cause damage.

Care & Cleaning

Unplug before cleaning. Exterior: Use dry, soft cloth. Interior: Remove paper dust with soft brush.

Glass/ADF: Clean with lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water; dry thoroughly.
