Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a stable, level surface near a power outlet.

  1. Remove all packaging tapes and protective materials from inside and outside the printer.
  2. Connect power: Plug the AC adapter into the printer and then into a wall outlet.
  3. Install ink cartridges: Open the front cover, insert cartridges into their respective slots until they click.
  4. Load paper: Adjust the paper guides in the input tray and load plain paper.
  5. Power on: Press the Power button. The printer will initialize.

WARNING! Do not touch the print head or ink cartridge contacts. Keep the printer away from heat sources and direct sunlight.

First-Time Setup

After physical installation, set up the printer with your computer or mobile device.

  1. Install software: Insert the provided CD or download drivers from the Canon website.
  2. Connect via USB or Wi-Fi: For USB, connect the cable to your computer. For Wi-Fi, press the Wi-Fi button and follow on-screen instructions or use the WPS method.
  3. Align print head: The printer may prompt you to perform automatic print head alignment after ink installation.

Printing & Scanning

  1. Printing: Select file > Print. Choose "Canon 3122" as printer, adjust settings (quality, paper size), and click Print.
  2. Scanning: Place document face down on scanner glass. Use Canon Scan software or press the Scan button in the Canon PRINT app.

WARNING! Do not touch the scanner glass with fingers; use a soft cloth to clean. Do not force paper into the input tray.

Maintenance

Ink Cartridge Replacement: When ink is low, replace with genuine Canon cartridges. Open front cover, press the cartridge latch, remove old cartridge, insert new one until it clicks.

Print Head Alignment: Run automatic alignment via printer software if print quality declines.

Nozzle Check: Print a nozzle check pattern from maintenance tab to identify clogged nozzles.

Cleaning: Perform print head cleaning (deep cleaning if necessary) from maintenance tab to resolve streaks or missing colors.

Care & Cleaning

Unplug the printer before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. For scanner glass, use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water.

CAUTION! Do not use alcohol, solvents, or abrasive cleaners. Do not spray liquids directly onto the printer. Keep paper path clear of debris.
