Unpacking and Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a stable, level surface near a power outlet.

  1. Remove all tape and protective materials from the printer.
  2. Install ink cartridges: Open front cover, insert PG-245 (black) and CL-246 (color) cartridges into their slots, close cover.
  3. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in rear tray, insert up to 100 sheets of plain paper.
  4. Connect power: Plug AC adapter into printer and wall outlet.

WARNING! Do not touch print head or ink cartridge contacts. Keep printer horizontal during installation.

First-Time Setup

Power on printer; follow on-screen prompts on computer or printer display.

  1. Install software: Insert setup CD or download from Canon website, run installer, follow prompts.
  2. Connect to computer: Use USB cable or select wireless setup via Wi-Fi button.
  3. Align print head: Printer will automatically align after ink cartridge installation.
