Unpacking and Installation

Remove printer and accessories from packaging. Place on a stable, flat surface near a power outlet.

  1. Remove all tape and protective materials from inside and outside the printer.
  2. Connect power cord: Plug into printer and wall outlet.
  3. Install ink cartridges: Open front cover, wait for print head to move to center, insert cartridges (black on right, color on left) until they click.
  4. Load paper: Adjust paper guide in rear tray, insert up to 100 sheets of plain paper.

WARNING! Do not touch print head or ink cartridge contacts. Keep printer horizontal during installation.

First-Time Setup

Power on printer; follow on-screen prompts or setup guide.

  1. Align print head: Printer will automatically align after ink installation (press COPY button if needed).
  2. Install software: Insert CD or download from Canon website; follow on-screen instructions for driver installation.
