Unpacking and Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a stable, flat surface near a power outlet.

  1. Remove all tape and packaging materials from printer.
  2. Connect power cord: Plug into printer and wall outlet.
  3. Install ink cartridges: Open front cover, insert cartridges as labeled.
  4. Load paper: Adjust rear paper guide, insert paper print-side down.
  5. Install software: Use CD or download from Canon website.

WARNING! Do not touch print head or ink cartridge contacts. Keep printer horizontal during setup.

First-Time Setup

Power on printer; follow on-screen prompts or software instructions.

Ink Cartridges:

  1. Open front cover; print head moves to center.
  2. Remove cartridge from packaging, remove protective tape.
  3. Insert cartridge into correct slot until it clicks.
  4. Close front cover.

Tip: Use genuine Canon ink for optimal performance.

Printing from Various Devices

Supports printing from computers, smartphones, tablets.

  1. Computer: Install driver, select printer in print dialog.
  2. Smartphone/Tablet: Use Canon PRINT app, AirPrint (iOS), or Mopria (Android).
  3. Wi-Fi Direct: Connect device directly to printer without router.
  4. USB: Connect via USB cable for direct printing.

WARNING! Do not disconnect power or unplug during printing.

Scanning and Copying

Scan: Place document on glass or in ADF. Use Canon software or menu to scan to computer/cloud.
