Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface near power outlet.

1. Install ink cartridges: Open front cover, insert PG-245 (black) and CL-246 (color) cartridges, close cover.
2. Load paper: Adjust rear paper guide, load up to 100 sheets of plain paper.

Loading Paper & Ink Cartridges

2. Press cartridge lock lever, remove old cartridge.

CAUTION! Use only genuine Canon ink cartridges. Do not refill cartridges.

Printing Documents & Photos

1. Ensure printer is on and paper is loaded.
2. From computer, select File > Print.
3. Choose "Canon MX490 series" as printer.
4. Select paper size, type, and print quality.
5. Click Print.
6. For photos: Use photo paper in rear tray, select "Photo Paper" in print settings.
7. For duplex printing: Enable "Two-Sided Printing" in printer properties.

Tip: For best photo quality, use Canon Photo Paper Pro and select "High" print quality.

Copying & Scanning

Copying:

1. Place document face down on scanner glass or in ADF.
2. Press COPY button on control panel.
3. Use arrows to select number of copies, color mode, paper size.

Scanning:
