Unpacking and Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a stable, level surface near a power outlet.

  1. Remove all tape and packaging materials from the printer.
  2. Install ink tanks: Open front cover, remove protective caps from ink tanks, insert into correct slots.
  3. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in rear tray, load up to 100 sheets of plain paper.
  4. Connect power: Plug power cord into printer and wall outlet.

WARNING! Do not touch print head or ink tank contacts. Keep printer horizontal during setup.

First-Time Setup

Power on printer; follow on-screen prompts on computer or printer display.

  1. Install software: Insert setup CD or download drivers from Canon website.
  2. Connect to computer: Use USB cable or set up wireless connection via Wi-Fi.

WARNING! Do not touch scanner glass with fingers; use clean cloth. Ensure paper is free of staples.
