Unpacking and Contents

Carefully remove all items from the box and verify you have the following components.

NOTE: Remove all tape and protective materials from the printer exterior and interior before use.

Hardware Setup

Choose a stable, flat surface near a power outlet and within range of your Wi-Fi router.

  1. Place Printer: Ensure adequate space around the printer for ventilation and paper handling.
  2. Connect Power: Plug the power cord into the back of the printer and into a wall outlet. Do not turn on yet.
  3. Prepare Accessories: Have ink cartridges and paper ready for the next steps.

WARNING! Do not place the printer in direct sunlight, near heat sources, or in humid/dusty environments.

Installing Ink Cartridges

The printer must be powered on to install cartridges. The print head will move to the installation position.

  1. Press the POWER button to turn on the printer. Wait for the printer to initialize (sounds will stop).
  2. Open the front cover. The cartridge holder will move to the center.
  3. Remove the new ink cartridge from its packaging. Gently remove the protective tape.
  4. Insert the Black cartridge (PG-47) into the left slot and the Color cartridge (CL-57) into the right slot. Ensure the labels face forward. Press firmly until they click into place.
  5. Close the front cover.

CAUTION! Do not touch the copper contacts or ink nozzles. Install cartridges immediately after removing tape to prevent drying.

Loading Paper

Load plain paper into the rear paper tray.

  1. Pull out the rear paper tray and extend the paper support.
  2. Adjust the paper width guide to its widest position.
  3. Fan a stack of plain A4 or Letter-sized paper. Load it print side down, aligning it against the right side of the tray.
  4. Slide the paper width guide gently against the edge of the paper stack.
  5. Push the tray back into the printer.

Tip: Do not overload the tray (max ~100 sheets). Ensure paper is not curled or wrinkled.

Powering On

After loading ink and paper, the printer will prepare for first use.

  1. With the printer on, it may automatically start an ink charging process. This can take several minutes. The power light may blink.
  2. Wait until the power light stops blinking and remains steady. Do not interrupt power during this process.
  3. The printer is now ready for software setup.

Software and Driver Installation

Install the necessary software on your computer (Windows or Mac).

Method A: Using the Setup CD-ROM

  1. Insert the CD into your computer's drive. The setup program should launch automatically.
  2. If it doesn't, open 'Computer' or 'Finder', navigate to the CD, and run 'Setup.exe' (Windows) or 'Setup' (Mac).
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions. Select your region and language.
  4. When prompted, choose a connection type. Select "Wireless LAN Connection" for Wi-Fi setup.
  5. Continue following the prompts. The software will guide you through the Wi-Fi setup process in the next section.

Method B: Downloading from Website

  1. Visit the Canon support website: support.usa.canon.com
  2. Enter your printer model: 'PIXMA TS3050' or 'PIXMA 3050'.
  3. Select your operating system (Windows or macOS) and download the full driver & software package.
  4. Run the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions as above.

Wi-Fi Connection Setup

Connect the printer to your home/office wireless network.

Standard Connection (Using Software)

  1. During the software installation, the setup will search for available wireless networks.
  2. Select your network name (SSID) from the list.
  3. Enter your Wi-Fi password (network key) when prompted. Ensure you type it correctly, considering capitalization.
  4. The software will send the network settings to the printer. The Wi-Fi light on the printer should start blinking and then become steady.
  5. Once connected, complete the rest of the software installation.

Alternative: WPS Connection (If Supported)

  1. Press and hold the Wi-Fi button on the printer until the light flashes.
  2. Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on your wireless router.
  3. Wait for the printer's Wi-Fi light to stop flashing and remain on. The connection is now established.

Tip: Place the printer within range of your router for a strong signal.

Mobile Printing Setup

Print and scan from your smartphone or tablet using the Canon PRINT app.

  1. On your mobile device (iOS/Android), go to the App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Search for and install the free "Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY" app.
  3. Ensure your mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.
  4. Open the Canon PRINT app. It should automatically search for and find your PIXMA 3050 printer.
  5. Select your printer from the list. You can now print photos, documents, web pages, and scan documents directly from your device.

Test Print

Verify the installation by printing a test page.

  1. From Computer: Open 'Devices and Printers' (Windows) or 'Printers & Scanners' (Mac). Right-click on the 'Canon PIXMA 3050' printer and select 'Print a Test Page'.
  2. From Printer: Press and hold the Stop/Reset button on the printer until the power light flashes 2 times, then release. A nozzle check pattern will print.
