Installation & Unpacking

Unpack and inspect all contents. Place on a stable, level surface near a power outlet.

  1. Remove all tape and packaging materials from inside and outside the printer.
  2. Install ink tanks: Open front cover, insert each color into its designated slot until it clicks.
  3. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in rear tray, load plain paper print-side down.
  4. Connect power cord to printer and wall outlet.

WARNING! Do not touch print head or ink tank contacts. Keep printer horizontal during setup.

First-Time Setup

Power on printer; follow on-screen prompts or setup guide.

  1. Align print head: Printer will automatically align after ink installation.
  2. Install software: Use provided CD or download from Canon website for your computer/device.
  3. Connect to network: Press Wi-Fi button, select network, enter password using printer buttons.
  4. Test print: Print a nozzle check pattern from maintenance menu to ensure quality.

CAUTION! Do not unplug printer during initial setup or alignment process.

  3. For USB, connect cable to printer and computer, install drivers when prompted.
  4. Verify connection by printing a test page from your device.

Tip: Place printer within range of your wireless router for best connectivity.

Printing & Scanning

Supports documents, photos, envelopes, labels.

  1. Print document: Select file > Print, choose TS6420 as printer, adjust settings as needed.
  2. Print photo: Use Canon PRINT app or software; select paper type "Photo Paper" for best quality.
  3. Scan document: Place item on scanner glass, press Scan button on printer or use software.
  4. Copy: Place original, press Color or Black copy button on printer (if equipped).
  5. Cancel job: Press Stop button on printer front panel.

WARNING! Do not open covers or remove paper during printing. Allow prints to dry before handling.

Maintenance & Ink

Replace ink when indicator light flashes or software alerts.

  1. Open front cover; wait for print head to move to center.
  2. Press empty ink tank down, then pull out.
  3. Remove new tank from packaging, pull orange tape completely off.
  4. Insert new tank until it clicks into place.
  5. Close cover; printer will begin ink charging (may take several minutes).

Note: Use only Canon CLI-281 series ink tanks for optimal performance.

Care & Cleaning

Unplug before cleaning exterior. Use soft, dry cloth; do not use alcohol or solvents.

Print Head Cleaning: Access via Maintenance menu on printer or software. Run nozzle check first; if lines are missing, perform print head cleaning. Use deep cleaning only if necessary (consumes more ink).

CAUTION! Never touch print head nozzles. Keep printer away from dust, heat, and humidity.
