Unpacking and Installation

Unpack and inspect all contents. Place printer on a stable, flat surface near a power outlet.

  1. Remove all packaging materials and tape from inside and outside the printer.
  2. Install the ink tanks: Open the front cover, remove caps from ink bottles, and fill each tank to the indicated line.
  3. Load paper: Adjust the paper guides in the rear tray or cassette for your paper size.
  4. Connect power cord to printer and plug into a 120V AC outlet.
  5. Turn on the printer using the power button.

WARNING! Handle ink bottles carefully to avoid spills. Keep printer in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight.

First-Time Setup

Power on the printer; follow on-screen prompts on the LCD.

  2. Refill ink: Open front cover, remove cap from ink bottle, insert into corresponding tank and squeeze gently until tank is filled to line.
  3. Print head maintenance: Use LCD Maintenance menu for nozzle check, print head cleaning, and alignment if print quality declines.

CAUTION! Use only genuine Canon GI series ink bottles. Wipe any spills immediately with a dry cloth.

Care & Maintenance

Unplug printer before cleaning. Use dry, lint-free cloth to clean exterior. Clean scanner glass with soft cloth and glass cleaner if needed.

Regular Maintenance: Run nozzle check monthly if printer is not used frequently. Keep printer in a dust-free environment.

CAUTION! Do not use alcohol, solvents, or abrasive cleaners. Do not touch the print head nozzles.
